Certificate IV in Leadership and Innovation in Dementia Services – 10719NAT


10719NAT Certificate IV in Leadership and Innovation in Dementia Services is an accredited qualification in dementia care for health and aged care professionals working with people living with dementia. The course will focus on the leadership skills required to implement positive change in the workplace and improve the care for people living with dementia.

Following a multi-disciplinary team approach the course will cover contemporary care practices that will lead to better care planning and improved outcomes for clients. Students will learn how to apply risk identification strategies, become familiar with organisational policies and protocols, and understand the importance of accurate documentation through recording, reporting and managing information. Students will gain the skills required to undertake environmental assessments in a number of different care settings, develop communication and relationship building skills, understand culture change possibilities and apply critical reflective practices to ensure continuous improvement.

To 10719NAT Certificate IV in Leadership and Innovation in Dementia Services includes sixteen (16) core units. The following units must be completed to achieve the requirements of the complete course:

  • AWALDM001 – Create enabling environments for people living with dementia.
  • AWALDM002 – Provide support to people living with younger onset dementia
  • AWALDM003 – Develop strategies to reduce stigma associated with living with dementia
  • BSBLDR411 – Demonstrate leadership in the workplace
  • BSBSTR401 – Promote innovation in team environments
  • BSBLDR414 – Lead team effectiveness
  • BSBOPS404 – Coordinate implementation of customer service strategies
  • CHCDIV001 – Work with diverse people
  • CHCLEG001 – Work legally and ethically
  • CHCPRP003 – Reflect on and improve own professional practice
  • CHCAGE005 – Provide support to people living with dementia
  • CHCPAL002 – Plan for and provide care services using a palliative approach
  • CHCAGE001 – Facilitate the empowerment of older people
  • CHCCCS015 – Provide individualised support
  • CHCCCS008 – Develop strategies to address unmet needs
  • CHCCCS020 – Respond effectively to behaviours of concern

This course will provide you with valuable insight into:

  • Leadership and culture change possibilities within your organisation to enhance your person-centred approach
  • Developing communication and relationship building skills within your teams
  • Recognising the unmet needs of your clients and exploring strategies to meet those needs and reduce distress

Please note: classroom attendance is compulsory.
