Mary Chester CentreBased around our Enabling Household™, our community wellbeing centres in Perth, Albany and Mandurah provide an evidence based environment that seeks to maximise wellbeing in the person with dementia. Providing a wide range of meaningful activities based on the person’s strengths, identity and interests, the centres provide meaningful engagement, stimulation and friendship in specially designed dementia enabling environments.

Our centres provide the only Eden Alternative™ registered day centre environments in WA and give the family a short break whilst providing an enriching experience for the person with dementia.

Metropolitan Respite Options

Centre-based Respite 

Mary Chester House, Shenton Park operates six days a week between 10am and 3pm.

Ella’s House, Mandurah operates Monday-Friday between 10am and 3pm.

Regional Respite Options

We provide a selection of support services throughout the Wheatbelt, Great Southern and Goldfields regions. Our Regional teams will also assist families in accessing other community based respite services. The teams are located in Albany, Kalgoorlie, and York.

Centre-based Respite

Hawthorn House House, Albany operates six days a week between 10am and 3pm.

Family carers are invited to visit for regular support meetings and to attend educational workshops.

Hawthorn House also offers limited overnight respite.

In Home Respite and Individual Social Support

Respite and social support is offered for the person with dementia and their family, either in their home or in the community, on a one-to-one basis with support provided by a trained support worker.
