Expression of Interest for Board Directors


Alzheimer’s WA has the purpose improving the lived experience of those on the dementia journey through excellence in care, leadership, innovation, education, partnerships and holistic, person-centred care and support. Established in 1982 by carers of people with dementia who saw the increasing need for a dementia-specific support organisation. In particular, a growing need of families for dementia specialist information and home support services.

Alzheimer’s WA provides respite care, education, and consultancy services and plays an important role in influencing policy development through advocacy. It is a registered charitable organisation operating in the not-for-profit sector and is constituted as a company limited by guarantee and has a board of directors that is the governing body of the company.

Our current Board has set a new organisational strategy and having updated a board skills matrix, has determined that it requires future directors with the following skill sets to achieve its transformational vision and growth plans
» Financial Director/ex CEO/ex COO
» Commercial Lawyer and
» Carer of a person with dementia / Carer/Nurse with experience of carer services

Expressions of interest are encouraged from qualified financial professionals with demonstrated or past CEO or CFO experience within large, complex and highly regulated organisation and would ideally include NFP experience. Similarly, professionals with demonstrated astute commercial legal acumen including experience in mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiations, workplace agreement. Knowledge of federal and state policy directions, challenges affecting the aged care and health sectors. AICD credentials will be are highly regarded as is strong experience of governance processes and strategic oversight.

This presents an exciting opportunity for experienced Directors to ensure that the vision and passion for the organisation is realised within a structure of governance and leadership, robust strategic planning, sound financial management and the highest standards of client safety and quality.

Alzheimer’s WA is committed to attracting a Board of Directors whose composition reflects a diversity of backgrounds, knowledge, experience and abilities. The Board through the Nominations committee will consider issues of diversity in its selection criteria.
