Welcome to our September 2017 edition of Member Connect.
September is Dementia Awareness Month and this year’s theme is “You are not alone”. We will be working to raise awareness of the negative impact that stigma can have on those living with dementia and their families and carers.
Many people living with dementia as well as their carers and loved ones feel isolated and quite lonely on their dementia journey. To help combat their feeling of isolation, Alzheimer’s WA offers a range of services and support programs including friendship clubs, social walking groups, a Men’s Shed, volunteering, art, choir and music programs. Other services include counselling, a library and our respite centres in Shenton Park, Mandurah and Albany. These programs and facilities encourage socialisation and a greater sense of belonging and community.
